You have your open water certification and you are now looking to improve your scuba diving skills. Do you head out on some fun dives? Of course you do, but why not combine it with some fun training whilst you are at it?
After your open water certification, there are a couple of different routes you could take, you could look at enrolling in a specialty diver program, maybe you want to practice your buoyancy skills, or start taking pictures with your underwater camera so look towards one of those fun programs. Or, if you are not too sure exactly what skills you want to focus on you could enroll in a PADI Advanced open water program. This program is a great way to get a taster for some of those exciting skills that you were wanting to try. Maybe you want to learn more about the coral reef, maybe you want to learn some more about underwater navigation and this is a great way to start.
There are five dive options in the Advanced open water program, each with their own section of knowledge review. First up are the two mandatory sections, the Deep diver section and the underwater navigation section. With these dives you learn about things to watch for and think about when you are diving deeper than 18m as well as how to practice your underwater navigation. It is very easy to follow along blindly with a scuba diving guide underwater when you should really be taking account of your surroundings a bit more. This will let you do that.
In addition to that you have a choice of three dives. There are many different dives you can choose from, so to make it a little bit easier we have split it up into three options.
Our first option is the ECO adventure option. If you think of yourself as a budding eco warrior and want to learn as much as you can about the underwater environment and how to preserve it. With this option your dives are focused on the preserving and learning about the marine environment so you complete the Fish identification dive, the underwater naturalist dive, and the AWARE shark conservation dive.
Our second option is the Explorer adventure option. With this option you will complete dives that will help you learn and practice skills designed to take you confidently exploring the underwater world. These include the Search and recovery dive, the Drift dive and the delayed surface buoy dive as well as your deep and navigation options.
Your third option is a custom option where you can choose your three dives. Maybe you want to focus on buoyancy or underwater imaging. There are also options including boat diving, and enriched air.
Whatever you decide, here at Oceans we want to make sure that you have the best experience possible so let us know what interests you!
