With the world slowly starting to move into a new normal, our new season is just beginning. With it comes an exciting announcement that we will be opening a dive store in an exciting new unexplored area of Costa Rica. Starting November 15th we will officially be opening Oceans Unlimited Golfito.

Golfito Bay is great for scuba diving

Where is Golfito?

Golfito is Costa Rica’s most southern port town and it located across from the Osa Peninsula on the Golfo Dulce. It is a peaceful town nesting on a spectacular bay.

Golfito has long been know to surfers who like to surf nearby Pavones. Also to sport fishermen as the year round place to catch some great fish. But what about scuba diving? Up until now, it has been a relatively unknown area for scuba diving. We know there are shipwrecks and we have heard the tales of untouched reefs with beautiful black corals, so we decided to check it out. We weren’t disappointed so here we are.

Why scuba diving in Golfito?

There are so many reasons to come diving here! There is a wealth of dive sites and wrecks to be explored as well as pristine coral reefs. Due to the shelter of the bay area, the water is calm all year and visibility is consistent throughout the year also. With the official opening on November 15th we will be running tours and courses from our new dive center Oceans Unlimited Golfito, based out of Banana Bay Marina.

wreck diving in Golfito

We have launched a new website focusing on the wreck diving around the area and with some great introductory packages so you can come down and join us. It is a lot more off of the beaten track than Manuel Antonio, so if you want to find somewhere to put your feet up and relax, explore some new dive sites, before anyone else, this is a great opportunity.

Around the Golfito Bay area, we have so far been scuba diving about 7 wrecks, and we are always learning about more. From Sail boats to barges, there are lots of different types here, which also provides a great chance to work on your wreck diving certification. We offer the course in Golfito and it can be combined with reef diving and any other programs that may interest you. Due to the range of sites, calmness and depth, we will also be offering intro to Tec and Tec 40 programs around the Bay area.
