What is the PADI Open Water Course?
The PADI Open Water Diver course is the globally recognized certification that allows you to dive independently (with a buddy) up to 18 m / 60 ft anywhere in the world. No prior scuba experience is required. Through a mix of theory, pool (confined water) training, and open water dives, you’ll build confidence and skills to explore undersea environments safely.

Open Water Dives (ocean)
If you’ve already completed the theory or confined water sections via PADI eLearning or another center, you can join us for Open Water Referral dives and finish your certification in Costa Rica.
Open water Referral
If you’ve already done part of your course (theory or pool) elsewhere, you can take advantage of our Open Water Referral option. You can come directly to Costa Rica and complete the remaining dives with us. This flexibility allows you to save time and dive more during your vacation.

Course Structure and What to Expect
Part 1 – Knowledge Development
Begin your theory training through PADI eLearning, at your own pace before arriving. Topics include dive physics, equipment, planning, safety, and underwater environment basics.This can be started either by obtaining an online sign up code through us or by starting yourself and following this link;
Part 2 – Confined Water Dives
Once at the dive center, you’ll enter a controlled water environment to practice essential skills—mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, safety drills, etc.
Part 3 – Open Water Section
We complete four open water dives in stunning reefs off Manuel Antonio, applying what you’ve learned and exploring Costa Rica’s marine life under instructor supervision.Your four open water course dives can be completed in just 2 days and if you want, can be combined with a trip to Cano Island to scuba dive with the sharks.

By completing your PADI Open Water Course with us, you’ll earn a globally accepted scuba certification and unlock access to dive anywhere in the world (down to 18 m). After certification, consider continuing with Advanced Open Water, specialty courses, or exploring sites like Cano Island.

The PADI Discover scuba diving experience is a short program that can be conducted over 1 day, or over 2 mornings/afternoons. It consists of a short academics review that you complete online, followed by a pool session. On completion of that you can then head to the ocean to complete 2 open water dives under the direct supervision of a PADI scuba instructor.
In addition, this program can be credited towards your open water course.
