Learn to scuba dive with the PADI Open water diver program
If you’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive now is your chance and it is as easy as 1-2-3!
You will discover new adventures and learn to explore the world underwater, so what are you waiting for? Here at Oceans Unlimited the PADI Open water diver course is divided into three sections. Academics, confined water, and open water. Academics are completed before your arrival and the inwater sections are completed here. You can complete any of those sections here or combine them with a trip to Caño island.
All of our open water programs begin on set days of the week. We have programs beginning, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If you have a group, we can also schedule private groups depending on instructor availability.
What is involved in the PADI Open water course?
The PADI Open water course is divided into three sections, academics, confined water and open water. You can join us at any part of this program. If you have already completed your academics join us for the confined and ocean dives. If you have finished your pool sessions at home then join us for a referral and complete the certification with us here in Costa Rica.
All of the open water dives will be completed locally. If you would like to visit Cano island during your dives you can combine your course dives with a full day trip there
Part 1 – Knowledge Development
The Knowledge Development portion of the course develops your familiarity with basic principles and procedures of scuba diving. These include topics such as how pressure affects your body, how to choose the right gear and dive planning. This section is completed online in the comfort of your own home when you will download your own digital materials, watch videos and complete quizzes and knowledge reviews. This can be started either by obtaining an online sign up code through us or by starting yourself and following this link;
Part 2 – Confined Water Dives
Part two of your course is the confined session. After a quick quiz and classroom review once you arrive at the dive center, you are now going to get wet and go diving! During this section of your open water course you will learn basic scuba skills in a near by swimming pool. You will start with basics like how to set up your diving gear, clearing your mask and regulator of water, hovering and many other important skills. You will also be able to play in the pool, practicing your new found skills and experiencing weightlessness!
Part 3 – Open Water Section
Last part, almost there! After finishing up your pool and classroom, you can head into the ocean for your four open water dives. Here you can put into practice all of the skills that your learnt in the pool, as well as swim with the fish on our local volcanic rock reef! Your four open water course dives can be completed in just 2 days and if you want, can be combined with a trip to Cano Island to scuba dive with the sharks.
What is included with the course?
If signing up for the full PADI open water program your course will include, certification, equipment rental, digital materials, all dives and all pool training sessions. Even though all equpiment is included we recommend that you acquire your own mask and snorkel for use throughout the course.
If completing just the water sessions, your equipment rental and instruction is included as well as your dives and instruction.
